At the moment steam is gushing out of my ears after reading the following

Side by side ... the Pope and John Knox - Scotsman.com

The last time the Pope visited Scotland he shook the hand of the moderator of the Church of Scotland underneath John Knox's statue. That was bad enough but the symbolism of an actor dressed as John Knox parading with the Pope is the best of friends is absolutely outrageous. The report mentions it as milestone. To me it must surely be a millstone.

I am of to have a coffee to calm down.

Sadly, I cannot get the link to work.

It's working for me now. Nevermind.

Such a shame. I liked the link better when it didn't work.

It's one thing for the Archbishop of Canterbury to grovel at the Pope's knee, but a completely different matter for the moderator of the Church of Scotland to act so faithlessly

In the article it speaks of the desire for true unity and how great/monumental this event was.

True unity without absolute truths get you nowhere, when will people learn.

Interesting. The article makes it sound like the real breakthrough was getting the Catholics to agree to this. No mention of concerns from the Church of Scotland. Could it be that the Catholics are actually more mindful and respectful of accurate history and theology than are the Protestants?

It certainly does feel like an attempt to reframe history and defame Knox in the interest of political correctness: "It is a sign of a healthy nation that diversity within the Christian community is something to be celebrated." That from the Church of Scotland. Kinda sad.

For those who know who Jenny Geddes was, I wonder if an actress will play her in the parade?

I wonder what Benny would think of this:

John Knox put it this way:
"Corporately, the Roman church is 'the mother of confusion' and the 'harlot of Babylon' or, to use somewhat blunt language, 'the synagogue of Satan.' The adherents of Rome are simply known as papists of infidels; there is no need to become confused over specialized terminology on this point, since 'all papists are infidels.' Their chief offence is idolatry, especially by means of 'that idol and bastard service' the Mass" (cited in Kevin Reed, John Knox..., p. 191).

I'm tempted! I've already got the right name and initial. It must be meant!

You might have to bring your own stool and make sure you throw it at the right person. Although in this case you might be spoiled for choice.
that's what I was thinking - I needn't really take aim, just lob it in the general direction

Bowling anyone? :)

Well, in Revelation he's described as having ten horns. Ten horns, like ten pins, get it? :D

yes, but I'll have to pick up the spare

Seriously, it seems that the corrupt want to rewrite history to make the big group hug more possible. I'm waiting for the Vatican to produce an "ancient document" that binds all religions together........strong delusion stuff.
