Looking for book(s) background early church

Does anyone knows some good books about the early church (NT), and forexample which discribes the jewish background ?

Have you checked into Edersheim's book called "The Life and Times of Jesus Christ:? That may have the kind of information you're looking for.

He also wrote another book (which I've never seen) called "Sketches of Jewish Social Life", which by the title sounds like it might be worth checking into.
