Spain went out very meekly. I was surprised tonight that there as no fight or determination about Spain. It often happens that defending champions just flop at the next tournament. One thinks of France in 2002 and Italy four years ago who both finished bottom of their group despite being winners four years earlier
I wonder how they will perform against the Aussies now that both are eliminated.

I was in Japan for the 2002 cup (stationed at MCAS Iwakuni) and went to the Ireland v. Germany game. Experience of a lifetime.
Must have been a treat. I would love to see Germany play. My brother and I are thinking of taking a trip to England next year. It'd be nice to make it for a Liverpool game!

great result for the Socceroos played very well tactically, & could have quite easily won the game, probably had more chances than the dutch as well. Ben I'm glad your'e a Pastor & not a Prophet! hehe

The Dutch and the Germans definitely seem to be the best two teams with Chile up there as well.

Ye they beat the dutch to, i think the women hockey team lost the final to the dutch girls & now the Socceroos lost to the Dutch as well, thats double dutch to me.

The Croatians are still alive with a thumping 4-0 win over Cameroon who didn't help their cause having had a player sent off.

If they get to the final, I will listen to it on You Tube as practice, as ee accent e is not commonly used over here. Alternatively I might just stick with "King Billy's on the wall..........".

Ten minutes to kick off in the England game. This is the first major tournament that I have been more inclined towards England. They are far more level headed this time compared to other occasions which has made them more appealing. I hope they do well provided they don't go onto win it.

the Italians are facing Costa Rica tomorrow , should be interesting to see how catenaccio holds up against the Costa Rican attack.
