I cheer for Mexico, and so I'm extremely excited for tomorrow. Unfortunately, I'll be at work during the game, but I will be sporting my Mexico jersey and perhaps have it playing silently on espn360 so I can check in. I'll just have to be careful not to cheer from the reference desk...

We made the untimely decision to drop our television by satellite two weeks ago. I didn't think about WC coverage, but between ESPN3 and ABC, I'll be able to see most games.

USA!!!!!!! DONT TREAD ON ME!!!!
Then England...

Then Henry I mean France (its the only thing they dont give up in) ;)

I don't see South Africa qualifying for the 2nd rd sadly. Their recent form's not very good, and there are two formidable opponents in Mexico and France (yes, despite their own horrible friendlies' results as well).

Netherlands and Spain for the contenders.

USA first, then:

La Argentina, then:

¡Adelante seleccion, Adelante seleccion! Anyone dare to take a guess. . .

Those aren't rankings. Just teams I follow.

Sorry, England'll probably win only if they manage to keep their starting XI fit all the way.

I'm wearing my Mexico jersey now!

also, only hours left to join my World Cup bracket predictor competition (gotta join before the first game): http://is.gd/cLlBL

I have mine on too! The only people here who watch the cup are people from Mexico, so I'm in good company.I got lots of honks on the way to work this morning. (May or may not have attached a Mexican flag to my back window). I'm silently watching the game in the corner of my desktop.

Why is the England team not called the United Kingdom team? Does the team not have any Scottish, Ulster or Welsh players, or not represent those parts of the UK?

The UK does not has a unified football team and all 4 parts have their separate teams - England, Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland.

The UK is much bigger than just England. After the union of 1707, England is just a wee part of southern Scotland.

In terms of winners, go for Argentina. I would like to see the Dutch win, some fancy Spain but the Germans are always there or there abouts.

I'd like to believe that this is the year that the best team to have never won the cup finally wins it (Netherlands).

I'd also like to believe that Spain finally plays to their seemingly limitless potential rather than under-achieve........ again.

England has their best chance since 1990, I think, due to Beckham not being on the team. Steven Gerrard is the man to watch. The loss of Rio Ferdinand, however, may be too much to overcome.

Then we have these facts:
1.No European team has won away from the continent. The Latin American teams take over at this point.
2.No defending champion, at least for some time now, actually defends the cup.
3.Only a handful of teams have won the cup, and most of those are multiple winners

Mix all this together and the possibilities seem limited to two: Argentina and Brazil
Brazil is always the easy pick. Argentina of course has Messi, but Maradona is coaching.

As usual, I am cheering for the U.S., England, Germany, Netherlands (my heritage), but really hope der Oranje finally win it.

The first game was ok, but the second game (Uruguay-France) was a real snooze-fest. I like the US to handle England by 2-3 goals tomorrow. I like Italy to surprise everyone and win it all again - the Azzurri are my favorite team outside the US. Chile is my dark horse contender this year...
